McQ's BAKER'S DOZEN 1966

SONG OF THE YEAR
1. Eight Miles High - The Byrds:  The Beatles, The Beach Boys, even ? and the Mysterians; it seemed every major rock act dove into psychedelia full bore in 1966, but no one delivered it more perfectly than The Byrds did with this track.  With it's jagged, violent guitar intro and (no-pun-intended) soaring vocal harmonies...all put in the service of what is, in my humble opinion, the best verse melody in the history of pop music...Eight Miles High stands as a highpoint (again, no pun intended) in psychedelic music, and is the best track the Byrds ever produced.
